Planting

Today I planted a flower with Haruki and Lawrence. I used gloves to keep my hands clean. I had to dig a hole with a trowel. Then I put the pansy in the hole. I pressed the dirt around the plant. Haruki dug a big hole. Lawrence found a worm and he was excited.

How to sort rubbish

The Primary School have been learning about rubbish and recycling.
Here are some explanations that some Year 1 students have written.

I want to explain how to sort rubbish at school.

The green bin is for organics.  Organics are fruit that turn into compost.

Rubbish goes in the red bin.  Rubbish goes in the red bin only.

The yellow bin is for recycling.  Recycling means you can use it again.

Now you can sort your rubbish at school.

I want to explain how to sort your rubbish at school.

The green bin is for organics and you put food scraps in like banana skins and oranges and apple cores.

The red bin is for rubbish and you can't reuse it again.

The yellow bin is for recycling and you can put some paper and cardboard and newspaper in it.

Now you can see how to sort your rubbish at school.

I want to explain how to sort rubbish at school.

Organics go in the green bin.  Organics are food scraps like banana skins or apple cores.  The truck will collect the organics.

Rubbish goes in the red bin.  So this rubbish will not be recycled.

Recycling is what you reuse and it goes in the yellow bin.  What goes in there is paper and cardboard.

Now you can see how to sort rubbish at school.
